Buckland Hall - garden weddings

gardens

Step outside, the gardens are beautiful

One thing you’ll notice as soon as you step out of the car at Buckland Hall is how peaceful it is here. Step a little further and you’ll discover a lawn which sweeps down towards the River Usk which runs through a beautiful meadow.

Around the mansion you’ll find a bank of rhododendrons (spectacular in May) and a woodland walk and arboretum containing rare and unusual trees. We’ve got a ‘grandfather’ beech, Spanish chestnut, monkey puzzle tree and a glade where red cedars form a canopy large enough for 50 people to attend an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Gorgeous grounds make a great backdrop for your wedding photos

We’ve also got an ornamental lake with swans, ducks, coots and more wildlife. Just think, there are so many great backdrops for your wedding photos…

Fun in the grounds – and local walks

Because the grounds are so extensive – we’ve got 62 acres for you to enjoy – there’s plenty of space for you to arrange outdoor ceremonies and other outdoor entertainment. One of the most popular wedding ideas is to arrange a merry-go-round in the grounds.

Don’t forget your guests can wander further afield around the estate – we have several designated walks.

  • The River Walk takes you to the nearby village of Talybont-on-Usk along a disused railway line.
  • The circular Woodland Walk takes you around Buckland Hill and the common at nearby Bwlch.
  • The Valley Walk takes you in the other direction through Cilwych Farm and along the river to the village of Llangynidr.
