Buckland Hall - the Brecon Beacons

getting here

We may have mentioned our beautiful location in the Brecon Beacons National Park – but we're not hard to locate. You'll find us just off the A40 which runs between Brecon and Abergavenny. Look out for our red sign about one mile after leaving the village of Bwlch if you're coming from Abergavenny.

It takes less than three hours to reach us from London, we are an hour from Cardiff and we are within an hour and a half's reach of airports at Cardiff and Bristol.

Sat-nav warning - especially iPhone: Please don't rely on sat-nav and definitely not iPhone maps to find us - our postcode can lead some systems to direct you to a dead end lane. The TomTom maps used by iPhone are guaranteed to get you into trouble.
Garmin are generally OK. Google maps are fine. BUT not the iPhone. We're trying to get them to change their maps - but it has been so far impossible and frustrating. So, please just follow these directions - it's really easy.

Getting to Buckland Hall from the M4 Severn Bridge

From London, it's quicker to use the M4 rather than the A40. Go across the new Severn Crossing (toll is £6.50 coming into Wales). Turn off M4 at junction 24 and take the A449 towards Monmouth. Exit the A449 at Raglan, sign-posted Abergavenny/A40. Follow the A40 all the way from here through Abergavenny, then Crickhowell and then the village of Bwlch.

About one mile after Bwlch (look out for three lay-bys on your left) you'll see a sign on the left signposted Buckland Hall. Turn left off the A40 and go along our lane. Please drive carefully along the lane and give priority to farm vehicles (you will pass the farm on your left). Follow another sign to Buckland Hall (bear right) and follow the drive all the way to the mansion house.

Reaching Buckland Hall from Cardiff

From Cardiff take A470 north past Merthyr Tydfill towards Brecon. Just before Brecon the A470 meets the A40. Take A40 towards Abergavenny. After 5 miles or so, you pass the junction for Talybont-on-Usk. Then you pass a large lay-by to your left. Opposite the end of the lay-by there is a lane to the right which is sign-posted Buckland Hall.

Turn right off the A40 and go along our lane. Please drive carefully along the lane and give priority to farm vehicles (you will pass the farm on your left). Follow another sign to Buckland Hall (bear right) and follow the drive all the way to the mansion house.

Getting to Buckland Hall from Birmingham

Take M5 south. Turn off M5 at Junction for M50, sign-posted to Ross-on-Wye. Take M50 past Ross towards Monmouth. The road becomes the A40. Keep on it past Monmouth, then turn off at Raglan following signs for the A40 to Abergavenny. Stay on A40 all the way from here through Crickhowell and the village of Bwlch.
